An astragal's half-round surface surrounded by two flat planes makes it a fitting architectural element at the top or base of a column. Its eccentric use is as a framing device on furniture. Finger-Jointed Pine Moulding is assembled from short lengths of clear lumber. Characteristic interlocking join and the joining process results in a length of timber of equivalent strength to solid lumber.
