Buyer beware! This may technically be mahogany, but it is a poor quality, possible subspecies that does not feel or act like mahogany. It is very lightweight and soft. Not heavy and dense like the 1 x 4s. Two weeks after installation on vertical surfaces, we had to remove a couple boards to make a repair. Not only did the wood chip significantly at the nail holes (not what I would expect from mahogany), but the board was so cupped we couldn't reuse it. I wish I could add pictures. Very disappointing.
